Alyssa Derling – Contemporary Jazz, Creative Dance, Barre Fit

Alyssa Derling is Artistic Director of Derling Dance Arts, a professional not for profit modern dance & musical theatre company operating out of Red Bank NJ.  Alyssa holds her BFA in Modern Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.  Alyssa’s choreography has been presented at various theatres/venues throughout the East Coast as well her work has been seen on the PBS Channel.  This past year Alyssa was selected as a finalist in Rider University’s Emerging Choreographers Competition.  Other credits include showing work in Central Park for The Check It Out Festival, Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philly for Koresh’s Come Together Festival, and Dixon Place in NYC as part of UNDEREXPOSED.  Alyssa has been teaching at Lustig Dance Theatre since the organization opened in 2010 as well she represents LDT teaching Creative Movement in Piscataway Elementary Schools.  Alyssa is also a certified Barre Instructor.

 

Nancy Dow – Ballet I – VI, Pointe 1

Nancy Dow received her ballet training in New York City. She graduated with honors in Dance from Smith College. Injuries precluded a full performing career, but Ms. Dow loved to teach. She completed courses in ballet teacher training with Don Farnworth, and taught at his school in New York City. Ms. Dow has expertise with all levels of ballet students, from 5 year olds through adult professionals. She taught for ten years in Manhattan, and has taught extensively in Central New Jersey. Throughout her career, Ms. Dow has directed, created and revamped ballet programs. Dancers from the Paul Taylor and Jose Limon dance companies took her class. Former students have gone on to dance with New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Nance Dow is an ABT® Certified Teacher, successfully completing the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre Primary through Level 5 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.

 

Seyong Kim – Adult Ballet

Seyong Kim holds an MA in Dance Education from New York University as well as an MA in Dance from Sung-Kyun-Kwan University in South Korea. He is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Mr. Kim has taught in New York University, Middlesex County College, Peridance Capezio Center, New Rochelle Art High School, and Seoul Arts High School. As a professional dancer, he has danced with Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Albania Opera Ballet Theatre, Terra Firma Dance Theatre, Staten Island Ballet, and Baltimore Ballet Company. In addition, his choreographic works have been performed at Dance in ITALY Festival, Seoul Fringe Festival, Korea-Japan Dance Festival, Dumbo Dance Festival, and Republic of Korea Marine Corps. Currently, Mr. Kim is an artist at Lustig Dance Theatre and a faculty member at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.

 

Jackie Lukas – Combo, Hip Hop, DanceFit

Jackie Lukas is a graduate of Rider University where she received a B.A. in Dance through a joint program with the Princeton Ballet School and a B.S. in Business Management. Ms. Lukas was the Education Assistant at American Repertory Ballet’s Princeton Ballet School for five years. While there, she was the Coordinator for both the DANCE POWER (program providing dance education to every 3rd grader in the New Brunswick school system) and DANCE POWER II (an afterschool extension of DANCE POWER for K-8th graders). She also taught for both programs. Ms. Lukas also worked in the Education & Outreach, Marketing, and Workers Compensation departments at ARB and taught various forms of classes for ARB’s Princeton Ballet School for children and adults. Ms. Lukas specializes in teaching a wide range of dance styles, including: creative dance, dancing together, beginner ballet, jazz and hip hop. Aside from LDT, she teaches at NJ’s leading hip hop dance studio, Icon Dance Complex in Englishtown where she recently created a new class called “Hip Hop Mommy & Me”. She teaches a range of adult fitness classes for LB Kass THE STUDIO and is a certified Pilates teacher having received her certification through the Physical Mind Institute. Ms. Lukas continues her dance training at LDT, Icon Dance Complex, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Colts Neck Yoga, and LB Kass THE STUDIO.

 

Peggy PettewayBallet IV, V, VI, Pointe

Peggy Petteway is a magna cum laude graduate of Florida State University. Born in Orlando, she began her training at the School of Performing Arts and continued through the apprentice program of Southern Ballet Theatre under the direction of Barbara Riggins. Ms. Petteway has danced principal roles in a wide range of classical and contemporary ballets with Bay Ballet Theatre, Southern Ballet Theatre, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Chautauqua Dance Company, and Pennsylvania Ballet. From 1999-2010 Ms. Petteway danced for American Repertory Ballet under Artistic Director Graham Lustig. At ARB she appeared in The Eyes That Gently Touch, Opposites Distract, Lambarena, – a part between parts –, and Twyla Tharp’s Sinatra Suite and Bakers Dozen. Her ravishing line and musicality were featured in Lustig’s Borderlines, Paramour, Silkscreens, and Uncertain Steps while her comic talents seen as Regina in Cinderella, Bianca in The Shrew, and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She created roles in Amy Seiwert’s Monopoly, Kirk Peterson’s Fandango Furioso and Roses and Clover, and many of Mr. Lustig’s works.
