Kendell Dempster began his training at Newark Community School of the Arts under the direction of Alfred Gallman’s Newark Dance Theater in Newark, New Jersey. This led to his acceptance into the Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey.
Upon graduation he was named a Star Ledger Scholarship recipient in dance and attended Purchase College where he received a B.F.A. in dance. Kendall has also trained at American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensives. From 2008-2010 he was a performing member of the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble in Denver, Colorado.
His musical theatre credits include performing with Ben Vereen in “Follow the Star”. Kendall is also an accomplished costume designer having received the American Ballet Theatre “Make A Ballet” Costume Design Award for Firebird.
He has designed and constructed costumes for the Kevin Wynn Collection, American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensives Program, Sidra Bell Dance New York, New Jersey Performing Arts Center Young Artists Program and Ronnie D. Carney Dance Collection. In 2010 he designed and created costumes for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theaters second company Ailey II.
